Moominvalley will close on 30th October 2016 and become Moomin Museum
Moominvalley, now located on the ground floor of Tampere Art Museum, will close its doors on October 30 2016.
NEW AND UNIQUE MOOMIN MUSEUM TO OPEN AT TAMPERE HALL IN SPRING 2017!
The Moomin Museum, maintained by Tampere Art Museum, will open at Tampere Hall on May 9 2017. It is the only museum of Moomin art in the world.
The new Moomin Museum’s larger premises will allow its unique collection of Tove Jansson works to be exhibited in a modern, multi-sensory way. The relocation of the museum is related to a project to rejuvenate Tampere Hall. The largest congress and concert venue in the Nordic countries is being renovated and expanded, while its restaurants and other services are also going through a revamp, which will also benefit visitors to the Moomin Museum. A new Tove Jansson Library will comprise all of the different language versions of the original Moomin books. Its spacious entrance hall will include a high-standard shop with mainly Moomin-themed products.
